Project summary:

Sustainable mobility and public art, often undervalued and underfunded, can yield significant benefits when strategically combined. The ARTIST project aims to elevate public transport’s status and active mobility presence by integrating branding, design, and art. This approach leverages local assets, such as grassroots organizations and artists, to enrich public spaces and foster community pride. By investing in public art alongside public transport and active mobility, the project underscores the value of both enhancing commuter experiences and encouraging broader public transport use.

ARTIST will share insights from creative transport experiments, showcase successful practices, and advocate for a community-centric approach to public transport and active mobility improvements. Activities include analysing regional conditions, identifying best practices, and incorporating arts into the design of stations, vehicles, and routes. Partners will organize seminars, study visits, and local stakeholder meetings to present progress and gather feedback.

The project will culminate in improved policy instruments supporting art in public transport and active mobility, with a joint policy report outlining lessons learned and recommendations for future implementation. The ultimate goals are to uplift sustainable mobility, reduce CO2 emissions, and utilize the diverse experiences of consortium partners from various regions at different stages of sustainable mobility implementation.
